SAAB's Heritage

SAAB's pedigree goes back to 1937 when the company was founded,
as Svenska Aeroplan AB, to provide Sweden with an independent aircraft
manufacturer at a time when Europe was on the brink of a second world war.
Right from the earliest days, cross fertilisation of design and technology between the company's various divisions has been very much in evidence. The first SAAB car, the 92, was unmistakably the work of an aeroplane designer, with its rounded shape and elegant aerodynamic lines, which has characterised the SAAB range for decades.
This new thinking started the SAAB tradition of free thought
which is very much alive today.
